Secondary Transition Programme

Fully organised by us

The transition from primary to secondary school is exciting for children and marks a new phase in their lives. Children recognise it as part of growing up and are aware that their lives are about to change in an important way. Like any change, it can also bring uncertainty. Most children will manage the transition to secondary school successfully. However, there may be ups and downs. It’s easy for children to slip from feeling happy and confident one minute, to feeling nervous or anxious and back again as they find their feet. As a secondary school there is much you can do to help your new incoming Year 7’s through the transition period with careful and sensitive preparation. Research shows that the signs of a successful transition are as follows: – Developing new friendships and maintaining good self-esteem and confidence; – Showing an increasing interest in school and school work; – Getting used to their new routines and school organisation with ease; – Experiencing continuity in learning; We incorporate activities and sessions in our transition programme to be able to achieve the above effectively.

Teachers

We provide high quality, qualified teachers that deliver tailored lessons. Our fantastic team of teachers have one aim – to bring out the best in your students.

That’s why you’ll find Regents Camps teachers extremely friendly and welcoming with a real interest in your students and your views on their progress. It all makes for a great atmosphere of support and encouragement for your students to grow at their own pace – with plenty of personal attention in these small group sessions.

All our team are DBS Enhanced checked and trained in Safeguarding.

Small Groups

Students will be placed into designated groups of up to 6-9 students, based on their year group. This allows us to focus on each pupils’ individual needs and requirements, and means we can target the specific areas of each subject that they need most help with.

The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) finds that, on average, pupils attending a holiday programme can make:

  • 2 months’ additional progress (compared with pupils who do not attend)
  • Up to 4 months’ additional progress if the camp offers small group tuition led by highly-trained and experienced teaching staff
  • Evidence suggests a broader benefit for families and communities, support for vulnerable children and young people, pupil mental health and wellbeing, improved education engagement and transitions, and reduced youth violence.

High Retention

We maintain a high retention rate with our students through fun lessons and also providing a £50 voucher.

As part of the incentive for students to attend the camp, Regents Camps UK will provide a free gift voucher. We provide vouchers for every student who has 100% attendance, punctuality and good behaviour at our 3-day camp.

They can be redeemed in over 20,000 stores, restaurants and attractions, with over 150 top brands to choose from such as Argos, Boots, Matalan, River Island, TK Maxx, H&M, Iceland, Wilko, Home Sense, Foot Locker, iFLY, Ernest Jones, The Works, American Golf and The Food Warehouse.

Locations

We usually host the programme on the school site. This works well as students and parents are already familiar with the location.
